Ganga, thank you for writing about this. It is exactly as you say, participation. And we get so much support from nature, like we always have. 💚🌍🙏

Yes, someone talking about The Fourth Turning! This books concepts have given me so much perspective and comfort that we Will deconstruct and rebuild from where we’re at.

Such a beautiful piece of writing and weaving the gardening metaphor in there, always enjoy your posts 💚

Thank you Addie! At first I found it so scary, but the deeper I sink into the analysis, the more I see my place in it. And that is such a relief. My mother's definition of humility is, "to know your place and take it" and I am finding ways to practice that every day.

You're also just the second person in recent months who has already been familiar with The Fourth Turning framework, the other was a peer of mine in my RegenIntel fellowship just this week. I'd love to read / hear your own thoughts and analysis as we move toward the climax of the crisis phase.

I've not heard of the Fourth Turning until now. I'm curious. Thanks for sharing about it Ganga. I wonder about if there is any pedigree from Gurdjieff's "Fourth Way".. I know Carol Sanford and Pamela Mang were very much influenced by Gurdjieff's philosophical ideas (and they came through teachers like JG. Bennett and Charlie Krone lineage of Gurdjieff concepts). Sanford's final book 'no more gold stars' reveals many hints of this influence (and actually did admit Gurdjieff's influence in the last chapter)

That’s a great philosophy to live by. Working on my own version of it too.

Yeah, I was thinking of putting a summary together of The Fourth Turning so that other more could be introduced to and understand the basics of the concept. I’m getting through the follow up to it: The Fourth Turning is Here, so once I get my notes together on that I’ll share a post.

I love the 3.5% rule concept too, that was a new one for me, so thank you for sharing that work m!

It would be fertile to recall that Carol Sanford and Pamela Mang distinguished "regeneration" not simply as renewal, but as an evolution into the previously impossible that can only grow out from the authenticity of the deepest source of place and self.. something utterly essential.

Thank you for talking about tbe diary turning. I will have to pick up q copy. So much suffering could be avoided if people realized we lived in a cyclical reality.

Great piece. Thanks for this! I got excited when you brought up spiral dynamics. It’s a theory that I was introduced to in grad school and I really enjoyed it. I’m happy to see others reference it!

Thank you Jennifer! Spiral dynamics can be such a fruitful lens through which to practice our own integration journey as we contribute to the movement of the whole, and I'd love to hear or read your thoughts about it, if you ever write anything along those lines!

I first learned about spiral dynamics from a book my dad introduced me to at Ram Dass's house when I was 13 and I got the impression that it was common knowledge, realized it very much wasn't as a young adult, but then it was integrated into the curriculum at the interspiritual seminary my husband and I studied with, and it was so insightful to look at different religions along the stages of the spiral.

I'm curious about the context in which you were taught it in grad school!

We reviewed it in a development class that I took and I got really excited about it because it helped me make sense of things I noticed when traveling. So I ended up writing a paper applying spiral dynamics to patterns I noticed in different countries.
