Returned to this today and again, struck by the beauty of birds singing when safe and what that means for us and other more-than-humans. Reading it again, I also now have a framing for a newly deepening practise that is so meaningful to me and that I can now hold within 'somatic healing'. Again, thank you.
Oh thank you so much for letting me know! That means a great deal to me to receive, and I'm so glad it's stuck with you.
I'm curious if you saw any of my other shares about this free four week practice I'm offering? Week two was focused on trees, and I just feel like if might be something you'd really enjoy. We're in the end of Week 3 now, but once you've signed up you can really take it at whatever pace feels right for you: https://emunah.circle.so/c/reality-reorientation-experiment/
Thank you for the invite. This would have been right up my alley but I am fill to bursting with self-study and all the other movements of each day right now.
The prompt I needed: "When my mind, my awareness, is overcome with the pain and the sorrow of the world, and my deepest prayer is to alleviate the suffering of others, I have a choice. I can choose to spiral into despair and panic and overwhelm, which generally makes me quite useless to others. Or I can choose to embody that which I want to flourish in the world. Presence, peace, love, care. I can embody that with the gas station attendant, the grocery store clerk, the neighbor at an airbn'b I’m only calling home for two nights." Ganga Devi Braun, "The Living World" - When only birds sing.
My sense is that when we are fully present with our unique ecosystem services, there is no space for judgement or comparison or upset. There’s simply embodying what we’re here to be, completely. No doubt this is the case for the birds, regardless of their ability to sing.
Loved this piece. Particularly liked: “Their songs connect things—sky and earth, morning and night, one bird to another.”
Thank you Owen! They’ve been such good teachers to me these days.
Really enjoyed this 💕
'Birds only sing when they're safe'. I've been carrying that with me since reading this, and know I'll be carrying it forwards. Thank you.

Thank you Pauline, and may we remember all of this more and more today and in the days to come ♥️
Of course. And now I shall enjoy my morning serenades even more remembering this. ❤️
So beautiful Ganga, thank you for your words
Do song birds get upset with hummingbirds because they don’t know the words?

It’s a joke. It was intended to make you smile.
I would hope not.
