The Power of Creative Partnership
Co-Creating Soft, Earthen Futures with Daje Aloh of The Story Doula
Introduction
It was about a year ago, amid the buzz of Facebook and Meta's new threads feature, that I began to really deeply resonate with the work of Daje Aloh, aka @TheStoryDoula. Daje shared her thoughts publicly, and one post, in particular, resonated deeply with me:
"I keep listening for the way the earth is calling more mystics, more birth and death doulas, more rememberers and poets, more designers and crafters, more brave jacks of many trades out of the shadows than ever before. Whatever the earth is preparing us for, she is doing it through our callings, our desires, our beckonings, our wants, our dreams. Our dreams are symbiotic with the dreams of the earth."
This message, and others like it, allowed my whole body to relax into a sense of resonance and relief. It began my journey of leaning into studying with and trusting Daje. I participated in her Archetype Embodiment Experiment and began a small coaching engagement with her, which helped me clarify my voice and gifts at a time when I was just beginning to reconnect with my passion for regenerative culture making that I had not actively cultivated for years. Over time, Daje continued to gently share her vision for the Storywork Studio and the Vision Society, and I found myself resonating every step of the way.

Building the Partnership
The collaboration and trust between Daje and me grew through vulnerability and mutual support. As a participant in her programs and the Vision Society, I shared my challenges, fears, and processes in building my visions and work. The biggest breakthrough came one night when Daje reached out to me for support and reflection. We had a profound conversation that solidified our peer relationship dynamic. Through moments of vulnerability, including early morning voice memos in which we have exchanged deeply uncomfortable, scary truths that had to be expressed, our trust deepened. These moments shifted deeply held feelings of unease and distrust that we were holding from past collaborations, allowing us to build a strong foundation for our partnership.
As we build our relationship, we take responsibility for attuning to each other's gifts and the best use of our talents and energy. Both of us have a tendency to over-give, which can lead to burnout. We hold each other accountable for designing our work and business to reflect our values, energy capacities, desires, and potentials. My potential has been uniquely activated through this partnership, including in the creation of my podcast. The clarity I’ve gained about my voice, story, passions, and gifts has been transformative.
Within the Vision Society, the greatest insights I’ve gained have come from our collaborative work on the Profitable Vision Roadmap, a methodology and delivery method that we are just now releasing into this next season of the Vision Society. This roadmap follows Daje's archetypal wheel of the four visionary archetypes: the Dreamer, the Risktaker, the Magician, and the Weaver. Through this process, I realized I had been neglecting the Risktaker archetype, which requires a lot of humility, attending to business fundamentals, market research, and learning deep lessons to hone a value proposition that connects with people in the moments when they most need it. Embracing the Risktaker has been a significant growth area for me, allowing me to integrate this archetype fully into my work.
Cultivating Community and Vision
In the coming season of the Vision Society, as I lead the Culture Work and Leadership Councils, we will create a space for members to surface and become aware of their own culture work. We will witness and hold each other's visions for regenerative cultural change, nurturing one another in profound ways. With an incredible list of guest speakers, we will deepen our space with their wisdom and insights.
The Vision Society is a space where we help each other create, nurture vision, and support one another in practical ways. For example, my husband recently posted about re-releasing our Trauma-Informed Lover course within the Vision Society. He’s offering our peers in the space the opportunity to gain access to this self-paced course for free and provide feedback, benefiting from and contributing to the course's development. I’ve done the same with a course being developed by Mandy Cai of Making Mothers whose Birth Experience Journal I highly recommend to anyone who has gone through or is anticipating going through birth. The fact that a sexologist in Florida and a birth educator in Shanghai could be collaborating and cross pollinating and weaving insights around trauma, systemic roots of harm, pathways to healing, and potentials for mutual growth is only possible because of the connections happening in The Vision Society. The flow of generosity, attention, reflection, and feedback within this community is beautiful and will only deepen moving forward.
The Vision Society will evolve to attract brilliant earth stewards, regenerative practitioners, business witches, and multi-hyphenates whose expertise is vast but who may struggle to articulate and deliver their gifts. This is a space where you will be held, seen, and supported through your transformative journey.
